City of Brampton's Sustainable Development

Through the Sustainable Community Program: New Development, the City of Brampton is promoting a comprehensive approach to planning and designing sustainable communities. Two tools were established to help the City achieve this goal - the Sustainability Community Development Guidelines (SCDGs) and the Sustainability Assessment Tool (SAT).

The City of Brampton, in collaboration with the City of Vaughan and Town of Richmond Hill, developed the SAT to evaluate and score the environmental sustainability performance of new development applications. With over 50 sustainability metrics, developers in Brampton now have a range of options to achieve Brampton’s sustainability thresholds.
