At the 8th Urban Economy Forum (UEF8) in Toronto, we were honoured to present the UEF Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to Sustainability to Dr. Kaveh Madani.

Statement:

Today, at the 8th Urban Economy Forum, we are honoured to recognize an individual whose work has expanded the boundaries of sustainability and transformed the relationship between scientific knowledge, public policy and institutional action.

Dr. Kaveh Madani has demonstrated that the complex challenges facing our cities cannot be addressed through conventional thinking alone. Throughout his distinguished career, he has brought intellectual courage, analytical rigour and an exceptional capacity for innovation to some of the most urgent questions affecting communities, governments and future generations.

His contributions have helped advance the science of cities, inspire meaningful policy change and promote new approaches to governance capable of responding to interconnected environmental, social and economic pressures. By bridging research, leadership and public engagement, he has encouraged institutions to move beyond fragmented solutions and embrace more integrated, inclusive and forward-looking models of development.

His work speaks directly to the mission of the Urban Economy Forum: to connect knowledge with action and help cities build sustainable, resilient and prosperous futures.

It is therefore our great privilege to present the UEF8 Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to Sustainability to Dr. Kaveh Madani.

This recognition continues a distinguished UEF tradition: Prof. Carlos Moreno was honoured at UEF6, followed by Mitchell Cohen, CEO of The Daniels Corporation, at UEF7, and now Dr. Kaveh Madani at UEF8.

We are proud to continue recognizing global leaders whose ideas, leadership, and contributions are helping shape the future of cities.
