Kabir Mohammed Yari

Kabir Mohammed Yari is a registered Urban and Regional Planner, urban practitioner, team leader and policy adviser. His areas of interest and expertise include preparing physical development plans at national, sub-national and local levels and developing policy and strategies for physical planning. Others are regional economic development, urban governance, especially participatory planning and management and financing of urban projects.  

 

Kabir Mohammed Yari has a B.Sc. (Geography) and M.Sc in Urban and Regional Planning from Bayero University, Kano and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, respectively. He attended the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Nigeria, and is a Member of the National Institute (mni). 

 

Kabir Yari started his career as a Town Planning Officer with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Environment in 1982. Later he transferred his services to Urban Development Bank of Nigeria PLC, where he rose to Acting Managing Director and CEO in 2010. Kabir was the Habitat Programme Manager for Nigeria between October 2012 to February 2017. Kabir Yari participated in several projects on participatory urban governance, city structure plans, project financing, municipal infrastructure projects and projects on Local Economic Development.

 

Kabir Yari is a Registered Town Planner and a Council Member of the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria. He was also a past President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners and Vice President of the Commonwealth Association of Planners.
