North America, Women and Urban SDGs: An Urban Paradigm Shift Towards Gender Equality

Urban Thinkers Campus (The City We Need NOW!)

Democracy IS driven by rights-based, citizen participation. Both are key to equitable, sustainable development and most effective when women are strengthened as the leaders they are. Why? Our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives are THE proven progress sustainer in families and such roles as rights advocate or driver of social and economic development. Thus, the Mexican grassroots NGO I serve, Psicología y Derechos Humanos, is majority women, doing needed training of marginalized women farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and homemakers to assume their rightful position as impact makers navigating challenges like gender inequality. There is no other way towards a sustainable tomorrow. Huzzah!
