In a ground-breaking moment for urban development, the Urban Economy Forum (UEF) and the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia (UCLG-MEWA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This significant event, attended by key representatives, signifies a commitment to collaborate on diverse initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable urban development, particularly in the Middle East and West Asia.

Mr. Mehmet Duman, Secretary-General of UCLG-MEWA, and Mr. Reza Pourvaziry, Chair of the Urban Economy Forum, along with their respective teams, convened to formalize this partnership. The MOU focuses on activities outlined in Article 3, with a specific emphasis on collaboration concerning Local Urban Finance. This non-binding MOU establishes a cooperative framework that defines the roles, responsibilities, and shared commitment of both organizations.

This historic MOU symbolizes a collective endeavour to address common urban challenges and promote sustainable development across the Middle East and West Asia region. It sets the stage for transformative initiatives with the potential to positively impact urban environments, benefiting communities not only within the region but also worldwide.
