Dr. Fazileh's Message

For many years, UN-Habitat has been trying to make cities safe and inclusive. Still, we are witnessing that many cities have not opened enough room for women to move freely and meet their needs. Women are suffering from many challenges in the cities such as harassment, limited access to public spaces and facilities, as well as discrimination in the workplace. Above all, women are more affected than men are by worldwide and common challenges like Climate change and the COVID-19 Pandemic. with having more women in the front lines of dealing with the pandemic crisis as nurses, health providers, caregivers, and service providers in stores and charities, etc. they are not only taking care of their family but also support and protect their community and society. In many countries, they still are invisible and silent, So, UEF uses this opportunity to put gender equality at the core of urban planning and make cities inclusive, safe, and sustainable for everybody regardless of their gender, race, and age. Let us work together to build sustainable and women-friendly cities.
